My god, lj is fighting me tooth and nail trying to tell people I did this. This is suzu, I did a journal rename and made it friends only, but the way I did it, it took me off peoples friends list. Um, no pressure to re-add me if you don't want, but I'm trying to poke everyone and let them know what happened. Since for some reason my email I sent out telling people won't go through. -_-

It's funny you should say that since I was just discussing how spoilt we are from the fanfiction in this fandom with some folks this morning... And it's not the first time I feel that way either. There were 3 not uni related novels I tried to read in the last 6 months and I didn't get through with a single one of them O.o They lacked the poetic value and careful characterization which I'm used to from fanfic and I felt let down. It also kind of shows me just how awesome this fandom really is \o/

*nods* what's point of reading the novel about Sam & Dean if the only thing thing left of them in the book are their names? If the names were changed to Seth & Donnie, it wouldn't be a Supernatural novel :PP

Didn't read the excerpt cos I've already ordered the novels - and the other books. I figure the novels aren't gonna be much good - but i like to buy merchandise and support a favourite show.

I did read that the fact the merchandise is selling well contributed to the show getting picked up. Could be true. Either way - I'll add it to my Dean & Sam dolls (self made), trading cards and binder, and the many many pictures I've printed up. (I plan on printing up a t-shirt next - just got to find the perfect pic)

I'm torn between supporting the show and not supporting poor quality goods. I don't want TPTB to think that work like this is good enough, yet I don't want them to think we aren't interested at all. :\

Yeah, I get that. I did actually read an excerpt after I posted this to you, not sure if it's the same one. I didn't think it was that bad - and let's face it, fans will always do it better.

Am I shallow just to want shiny covers? I never read my Dark Angel novels either, but I have them and stroke them and love them...
