My DVD burner has died an inglorious death, it served me well while it lasted. I'm thinking of getting the newish Sony for my next one as I've had very good results with their electronics type products. :\

I'd totally recommend Sony. All of their electronics are really well made and last for several years.

Yeah, I've been very happy with everything I've had from them so far (tv, dvd player, camera). :)

I have the new Sony DVD burner that I got in Dec. It's excellent, and faster than usual.

Fabulous! My old one was a 2x, so it will be a huge improvement.

2x! I think the Sony is 18x, so you'll be much improved. LOL

May I ask what it was you were burning at the time the thing kicked the bucket^^

I started out trying to run the Paley DVD so I could get some decent caps, then I tried a couple others and even some blank ones, but the DVD drive was all "what DVDs, I see no stinking DVDs" about it. :p
