So true! XD And even though my parents are polar opposites in their opinions of Lana (Smallville), they're in complete agreement about Jo. XD

Who would've thought it would take Supernatural for us to get along. XD She wasn't even sure she'd like it at first because she doesn't like supernatural/horror type stories, but then she realized that was just setting/background to the real story.

Hee. :)

The more I re-watch it (3 times now), the more I am finding it hard to understand why I like it as much as I do. Jo rubs me the wrong way in the first few scenes, but I can't deny that I just actually like some of those later scenes with Dean, as well as her scenes alone in that whatever it was, cage. *perplexed*

I think perhaps the reason I liked those scenes of her with Dean (the Dad scene, especially) is almost entirely based on the weight of JA's performance. Because he was absolutely stellar.

I hear you there, after a fashion anyway. The more I think about this ep (the end especially), the lower my estimation of her character falls (and it was pretty damn low to begin with) and the more annoyed I get at TPTB for foisting that off on us.

I get that. His performance, and the further glimpses into Dean we get, are pretty much the only saving graces of this ep as far as I'm concerned.

Perhaps if they'd only had Jo do the hunter wanna-be thing, or only had Ellen do the angst thing. Laying both on us as viewers and on the boys was just too much. Spotlight and major ax to grind with the big bad Winchesters was just too much for characters who hadn't earned the audience yet. :/

Wasn't it just lovely? Her daddy memory is painfully cliched (his isn't so far off, actually), but I love to watch JA in that scene. His eyes, the tone of his voice, the things he does with his mouth. And not even in a sexual sense(!). :P I just love his acting choices there. I kept thinking "Wow. Wow. He's good...!"

They should've introduced the new characters in small increments instead of shoving them (and all their mad skillz) up our noses. :p

He puts so much across in that scene, especially when he didn't finish the memory (I think because he has a new perspective on the wrongness/sadness of his best memories of his father being training sessions).
