Today I realized that it has been one year since I was in Las Vegas for WriterCon. It's been a whole year since I was able to meet some of you and share the joy of writing BtVS fanfiction with like-obsessed people. Can you believe it? It was so wonderful being around so many people who "got" this need to write in this fandom. We were no longer

The community of like minded artistic people...yep. I've been in fanfic for over 20 years for various fandoms. I have met some great people this way. Many I have met in person as well and they have been some of the best friendships I've ever made. My life would be very different and a lot more lonely without it.

I can't imagine my life without my fanfic friends now. It was amazing meeting the people I'd been emailing with for over a year face to face. It solidified several friendships for me, and I've been to visit one of the girls since then. Would love to go see more of them again, as well as those who weren't there.

now that I'm working again, I rather hope they have something like that once more so I can go. There are a lot of people on my flist I'd love to meet someday

I miss you, too! And yes, there was lots of fun at WriterCon! I still wear my T-shirt often!

Wasn't Jane Espenson GREAT? She was so supportive!

Darn...I hope they have another Con again soon!

Jane was wonderful. It was very affirming to hear a writer for the show endorse fanfic writing.

They are supposed to be having another one next year, I think. That's the problem with fan-planned events - they've got live too.

You're right, having someone like Jane endorse fanfiction was very validating!

I wonder where the next Con will be?
