LOL. I just made Mr. Smithson up. He had no idea who Buffy was. He just had the misfortune of having seen her in action, without understanding what he was seeing.

I heartily agree. I'm always afraid that people are going to think the archive isn't taking submissions because so little Giles/Willow fic is written these day. Not that I'm one to talk. I haven't been writing them as much either.
