I'd like to apologise for jumping the gun.
Three months ago, I posted a photograph on this very blog and made a pretty bold claim: that it depicted "how 1986 should have looked". That was thoughtless of me - impatient and foolish, too. I should have taken a moment to think. I should have waited. I should not have rushed to proclamation. Because, you know, things change when you least expect it.
Forget what I said three months ago, okay? This is how 1986 should have looked.
It's taken 24 years, a couple of Japanese-exclusive toys, an unofficial release and my wife and daughter going out for Indian with friends, but I've finally created a show-accurate The Transformers: The Movie display. And it rocks. It's heaven seeing all these characters together, at long last, in toy form... seeing all my childhood dreams cast in plastic.
Next time a Transformers fan asks me why I don't collect the Classics toys, I'm going to give them the URL for this entry. When you're fortunate enough to own the originals, why would you buy the updates? Nothing, in my humble geeky opinion, tops the way that bunch looks all together.
I love being a grown-up with disposable income.
