On Sunday, Darth Vader stole an elephant from the circus.
It's true - the Dark Lord of the Sith, brandishing his lightsabre, stormed the circus and stole its main attraction - the music-playing elephant. He leaped atop the frightened pachyderm and, ebony armour glistening under the spot lights, rode it on out of there. The elephant wheeled madly through the circus and into a nearby city, sending terrified dollies and teddy bears running for their lives.
Who would save these poor, innocent bystanders? Who had the heroism, the intestinal fortitude, the pure courage to oppose Darth Vader?
Nearby, in an ultra-super secret tree house headquarters, two heroes answered the panicked calls. Quickly, they climbed to the observation deck at the top of the tree house, then slid down the long, twisty golden slippery-dip to the under-trunk garage. There, they jumped aboard their wave-rider/motorbike and gunned the engine, speeding off into the midst of danger. Who were these brave heroes?
None other than the ever-astounding father-and-daughter team of the Stunning Spider-Girl and the Amazing Spider-Man!
Piloting the wave-rider at top speed, the Spider-family intercepted Vader and the elephant as they tried to make their way through Recliner Chair Passage, outside the city limits. The heroes confronted the villain and, using team-work and a lot of snappy patter, knocked him from the back of the frightened elephant and webbed him up for the police. Vader was carted away in a school bus that had been converted into a prison cell. The elephant, meanwhile, was so grateful for the rescue he gave Spider-Girl a ride on his back, all the way up and down the length of the hallway.

That was the game LJ played on Sunday afternoon. I walked into the room just after Vader had stolen the elephant from the circus - a group of toys she'd arranged in a circle in front of the television. She's shoved Vader into a slot on the elephant's forehead - where you're supposed to insert blocks so it plays music - then dragged the unlikely duo by the elephant's pull string and crashed them through the watching bears and dolls.
LJ grabbed me by the hand and yanked me to the Spider-Man & Friends tree house, where I had to load Spidey and Spider-Girl onto the wave-rider. She took care of all the rest, including the big rescue. I got in trouble, though, when I tried to give Spider-Man a ride on the newly-freed elephant... only Spider-Girl, it would seem, was allowed that reward.
I love this kid. I can hardly wait to see what she comes up with now she has Captain America, and when Wolverine and the Thing arrive later this week.
