The stuff nightmares are made of!

Dec 27, 2008 17:51

We woke up to some disturbing news this morning. At first we couldn’t quite figure out why there were helicopters and small planes flying over us in a hurry, and then we received a phone call from a friend. She was making sure none of our kids were at the beach this morning (sometimes the Mitch and his mates head out early for fishing or ( Read more... )

That's terrifying! I don't like the beach much, and one reason I don't is because of jellyfish. I can't even imagine being in the same water as a shark!

While I love living near the beach (basically, I wouldn't live anywhere else), I'm not a fan of swimming in the ocean. I have a severe reaction to jellyfish stings and I really like to see where I'm swimming, not to mention know exactly what's in the water with me ;) Pools are so much better :) Of course, I also see what hubby and his mates pull in from the ocean, so it's a bit off-putting when you discover that the very beach you've been swimming at has given up a 2 meter shark the same weekend...

*shudders* Sharks. That makes me glad I am nowhere near the open water. The few small lakes we have are inland.

Good for you, sleepy head. I am currently very much ahead of my sleeping schedule.

Honestly, I wouldn't live anywhere else, but it doesn't mean I actually swim in the ocean ;) I much prefer pools, where I can see the bottom and know exactly what I'm sharing the water with ;)

I must have desperately needed the sleep, because I don't remember the last time I slept that late *g*

A shark you say? Yipes!

The sleeping in part sounded nice. I didn't do that but have big plans for a nap later on.

*nods* A shark! We get a few alerts throughout the year, and hubby's actually caught a two meter shark off the beach, but we've never had an attack so close to home - this is a five meter monster! All our beaches are closed, obviously, until tomorrow afternoon, at which point the situation will be reassessed.

The sleeping part was desperately needed! I feel more like myself than I have for months and it's wonderful :) I hope your nap is wonderfully restful.

That sounds really scary! I hope they manage to get rid of the shark soon! And hooray for getting lots of sleep!

It is terrifying. We've had shark alerts before and we know they're out there just about all the time, but deep out there! This is way too close to shore and to actually take someone...

Me sleep has been blown now, but that's another story...

That's very scary. I remember shark attack days from living in Hawaii. *hugs*
