Is it weird that if this had been in the show I actually would have liked/understood John more? This was really moving. Well-written.

Thanks. I've thought many times that the show totally glosses over how damaged all of the Winchesters are. Maybe if they'd kept John around long enough to do an episode focused on him, the fandom wouldn't hate him so much.
