Congratulations on the job and computer! I've really only heard about the downsides of living in LA, generally speaking, but it sounds like things are going well, which is awesome.

Oh, good luck with roaches. My formative summers were full of them, whenever I visited my mom. I woke up with a crunched dead one on my face, once. *shudders*

...How in the world did it end up both dead and on your face? That smacks of outside influence, like someone put it there. No way that happened by accident! *shudder*

The current apartment's pretty good so far, but occasionally one of the big glossy brown ones will wander inside at work from all the automatic doors.

My theory at the time (which I hold to this day, since otherwise I need to seriously recalibrate my estimation of my sisters' wickedness) was that it crawled there and I squished it in my sleep.
