My annual Boingo recommendation!

I discovered a couple of years ago that, for a single $10 monthly subscription fee that could be turned off at any time, Boingo Wireless would get me online in the hotels and airports I was going to be in for Dragon*Con, where I'd otherwise have to pay separately.

Boingo works in the Atlanta Marriott Marquis and the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, as well ( Read more... )

I've applied for this for the first time this year - coming from the UK, I can't use data on my phone and the Marriott's wifi charge is extortionate, so hopefully this will work for checking emails/Twitter etc occasionally. :)

How well does the wi-fi work in the hotel rooms at the Marriott? And if so how is the upload rate?

I've found it works fine, and is good enough for uploading my photos. During busy times, it gets bogged down, like any hotel Wi-Fi service. That's true whether you're paying the Marriott $13/night or Boingo $10/month, though, so again, it's not a tough choice.

You know, it's kinda pissing me off, but the Marriott upload speed is way faster than I get from my Road Runner service at home. It's uploading pictures to Flickr more than twice as fast.

Is it weird I was disappointed that this post is not, in fact, about Oingo Boingo?

Even though I know it will never happen, my dream is to have Oingo Boingo play a reunion show at con.

This worked awesome for us last year at the Hyatt Regency. 4 laptops over 2 rooma, with one account. We're going to give it a swing this year with the iPads and Nooks.
