The question about taking food and drink into the hotels made me wonder: Are you allowed to eat and drink in the rooms where the con panels are held? At least, before the panel starts? Some cons allow it, some don't. I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that it's not allowed at D*C, but I haven't been able to find any info to back that up. I' ( Read more... )

I've eaten in some of the smaller panel rooms without issue and have certainly taken drinks into all panels, even the ones in the large ballrooms. The only rooms where I think they may frown on drinks would be the art show and electronic gaming.

As long as it's not something loud or otherwise disruptive/messy, it's not a big deal (except in the art show). Unwrap your granola bar before the speakers start talking, that sort of thing. Politeness is the key. Not that everyone abides by politeness, but hey. *I* don't want to be the jerk rustling a crinkling granola bar wrapper open in the middle of a panel in the small rooms where people don't necessarily use mics. I hate unzipping my purse to get out a notepad or whatever.

Yeah, I've eaten in big and small panels. There isn't enough time between panels to grab food AND eat it and a LOT of times there's something I wanna see at 11:30 AND 1, so yeah. I've never had a problem with it at all and I'm totally open about doing it. Of course, I try not to eat anything loud once the panel actually starts. That's just annoying. XD

Not a problem for me, either. I've always done it.

And ppl are generally very good about being neat and not leaving stuff at their seats; also, all the big ballrooms and many of the smaller rooms have trash receptacles at every door. They're provided by the hotels (like cups and water) and the hotel staff are very good about emptying them.
