New Comm: Action Figures

Jun 08, 2011 02:40

OK, So Dragon*Con changed my life.  To normies out there that might sound odd, but I know there at least a few who will know what I mean.  I found a sense of camaraderie and belonging like no other, a feeling of wonderment and excitement and a feeling of home.

I also felt the need to squeeze into teeny tiny costumes and show off in front of cameras.

Love the name. I lost 50 pounds from July 09 to July 10. So it has been almost a year now and until recently I have kept it off. Over the past 2 months I believe I have gained 2 lbs back so I am working on that. I am definitely much healthier and stronger. I still go to the gym 3x a week but I no longer pay for a trainer. I balance eating good and sometimes not so good as best as I can. I am 43 years old. I still have a hard time with my midsection, which is the only thing preventing me from wearing anything too form fitting or revealing. My husband is very happy with me as I am, so I have not pursued getting a smaller waitline - but also because he is sort of sick of my focus being on weight loss. Perhaps you all will share things that will motivate me to change up a little, enough to tighten up but without driving my husband crazy. (Some of my middle may be skin that has gotten as small as it is going to get, not sure) While it is harder for someone my age, I am going to keep on keeping on. Dragon*Con changed my life as well, I will ( ... )

Congrats on the wieght loss! That sounds like you have worked really hard, and it can be frustrating not to see any progress, especially on your middle which is an outreageously hard area to tone. It's my focus right now too so I will post a few tips that may help ASAP. And as for your husband I have a few ideas. Hope to see you around the Comm!!!!

This is wonderful! I'm fortunate enough to be at what I consider ideal weight, but I recently ran my first 5K as part of "fandom 5k" here on LJ, and it was not only fun, but quite rewarding when I hit my goal time!

I've seen other posts like this here and on cosplay.com, but you've got the best name and catch phrase of the lot!

Well done!

Thanks!!!! Yeah I'm pretty close to my ideal weight but I want to continue making fitness my focus. After all finding new and exciting ways to stay fit is half the fun! Besides I want to support others in the ways I didnt have.

Absolutely!

I'll spread the word if I can! (I'm not online much right now due to a hand injury limiting my typing and some serious travel (not for fun, sadly) stuff, but I'll do what I can!)
