I apologize if this is an oft-asked question, but can somebody please clarify the dress code rules for me? The con site really only says "be decent, follow Georgia law". Georgia law really only says "cover your naughty bits". Does this mean that underwear and pasties (and paint) is acceptable? If so, does that apply to all day? Just after a certain ( Read more... )

If your attire is an issue for the powers that be, I've heard of them saying "Please change it," but not kicking people out or having them arrested. Pasties and paint has seemed to be adequate in the past. Paint alone may not be, though it sounds good to me. ;-)

I would just be incredibly upset to have spent $80 on paint/supplies, only to be told within an hour or two that I had to wash it off.

I'm definitely wearing pasties...for more desirable shape more than for coverage; I'm not particularly modest, but I AM vain. ;)

Good to know that pasties and paint has been sufficient before. Did you see girls in pasties/paint during the day, or only at night? (I'm wondering if maybe they get more lax about it after, say, 10 PM...)

Good to know!

Although I guess the REAL question is...did any of them get asked to get dressed three minutes after you saw them? ;)

Typically airbrush bodypaint is water-based. It can take a few tries, but it will come off in the shower. It doesn't stain fixtures...it may stain fabric.

Sorry, didn't read closely enough. I don't have experience with the brand you're considering...never heard of alcohol-based paint. But if it comes off with oil paint remover I suspect you'll find it more trouble than it's worth during con.

Water based paints will stay on pretty well, especially when applied by airbrush. There are fixatives you can use to improve/maintain the finish.

I've not used this particular ink, but the airbrush ink I use at work comes off best with alcohol and works great.

That's good to know! :) What brand do you use?

Just an FYI, I don't recall having seen anyone wearing only pasties, underwear, and paint during the day, but definitely have seen it at night. Don't know if I've just missed it or it is an unwritten rule due to all the kids running around during the day.

I think it's an unwritten rule. Anything naughty shouldn't be out during daylight hours, due to the family atmosphere during the day. The Slave Leias push it, but Star Wars is a kids movie.

Yeah, I hadn't even thought about the time thing, until a friend told me I should make sure about that. But as far as I can tell, the website made no mention of it. :\ I'd hate to be asked to wash it off or leave, because that means I either waste my costume, or I miss all of Saturday (sitting around somewhere private until nighttime).

understandable. just because i haven't seen it in my 12 years of attending doesn't mean others aren't doing it. as kids are running around during the day, it just makes sense in my opinion. i'd just have a backup for covering up if need be. good luck!

Generally speaking before dark is more family orientated and thus it is in better taste to be a little more covered. After dark it is expected that thing quickly become more revealing.

That being said I would lean heavily toward wearing paint and pasties for after dark.

I've seen pasties and paint during the day, but to my own experience it's not a free-for-all. You will piss some people off if you wear revealing costumes before dark. If you're okay with that, go nuts.

Hmm, I don't know. I'm not a very confrontational kind of person, so I think I might want to play it safe.

Maybe I'll wait a couple of hours to put my costume on, and observe what kind of response other, equally risqué costumes are getting at that time of day, then go from there.

I'll see about maybe picking up a boobie band or something. :)

It makes me so sad that guys can walk around shirtless at con, but girls can't. Yay gender double standards.

Check with Mrwerewolf ... he's my local expert and he paints D*C every year.

And wear a sash you can turn into a boobie wrap if neccesary?

Would you be willing to send him the link to this post, please? I'd feel weird going over to his journal and being like, "HEY you don't know me, but answer my questions please! :D". I'm strange like that.

And yeah, I'll probably have some kind of emergency option, just in case. It just won't be as cute. :(
