Wood 'N 'Lectricity

Forty-five minutes spent mowing the remainder of the yard followed by a couple of hours of effort converting electricity and wood into sawdust and noise, yielded a mowed lawn, a broken sanding belt, and a cache of escutcheons for the Golden Rose tourney tree. I'm a little bit behind on my goal for working on this project, but only by a day. I'll ( Read more... )

By now I'm sure you figure I crawled out of some tiny hick town where we all wear "bibs' and chew grass stems...I have another helpful hint for you. This one, however, comes straight from the Terminix guy who we had monthly visits from years ago in buggy Baltimore. Old rowhouse - long story...ickkk!

Put a Shell "No-Pest Strip" in your vacuum cleaner bag or where ever the dirt gets collected in the vacuum. Change the Strip each time you change the bag. Any 'critters' who aren't on you, your lady or the felines is probably in the carpet or curtains - with eggs. Washing helps but vacuuming them up works real well and since you don't really see them easily catching them in the vacuum and having that nasty flea-killing Strip in there WILL kill them and whatever might hatch in there. Fleas, for whatever this may interest you, have a 28 day life cycle. So you have to do your exterminating so you're inside that 28 day window. Good Luck!

Thanks! We have a "Rainbow" vacuum, so it tend to drown the critters.... But that's a good tip for our smaller units.

Good idea! I learned more about fleas from that exterminator than I ever thought I'd need to know. I hope you get them all! We give our cats Frontline - they get out reasonably often - we're out in the middle of nowhere. Fox and coyote are a bigger issue than cars but I try hard to keep them close. The Frontline has worked well for us and isn't nasty to the cats like the OTC flea drops are. Your guys sound like they're 100% indoor kitties - good for you!. It's really better for them. Most of mine are former Barn Cats.

Let's hope this flea fu is the end of your trials and you can avoid the poison ivy and other wonders of nature!
