[Philomel hadn't even noticed she'd slipped into Mime, so still and silent that she'd blended right into the slaty rocks of the beach. Luna's arrival made her head lift, and the slivery blue returned to her scales in a wave. Called softly, hoping not to startle her:] Luna.

[Philomel shivered, the vibration passing down her scales the same way the returning color had a moment ago, and they tinkled together musically.] They--er, we, I supposse, ssince I am one--we arre. [She was rather proud that her speech sounded almost normal, though there was still some distortion.]
