Dinner (open for roommates)

She doesn't like lying to him. She really, really doesn't. But she likes watching him in pain less. And he keeps refusing to get help

"Ooo, dinner." Percy kisses her cheek and sets the fresh, cold clay on the floor.

[fingersofleaf]

"That's okay. There's plenty to do here. If you don't mind!"

[dragon_dealer]

"Not at all. Would have said if I did." She swallows a spoonful. "How's the work going?"

[fingersofleaf]

"It's good! It's good, I like havin' lots to do."

[dragon_dealer]

"I know. How's your leg?"

[fingersofleaf]

"It's fine," which means no change.

[dragon_dealer]

She makes a small sound. A sound of "You'd-said-you'd-see-about-it-if-it-didn't-get-better, but you-know-that-as-well-as-I-do." And sips her soup.

He does likewise, innocently. There's clay in his hair and on his forehead, from wiping his hand across while he was down at the stream.

"There were going to be more muffins, but Dinidan took a fancy to them."

[fingersofleaf]

Percy laughs. "That's okay!"

[dragon_dealer]

"Do you know if Haynes had any family, back home?" Percy, not being here for the previous conversation, might be confused at the transition.

[fingersofleaf]

He may be, but it doesn't bother him. "Don't think so. But he never said a whole lot to me, yeah? Except that he needed somewhere to be safe, and I said here."

[dragon_dealer]

"Hm. I'm still working on the electricity thing."

[fingersofleaf]

"I know. I dunno how it works, so I dunno what we can do--"

[dragon_dealer]

"I've been borrowing some books from up in the house. What I can't figure, yet, is how it comes from him. It isn't supposed to come from people. I'm guessing magic, but so far it hasn't turned up in any magic I've read either."

"He said it wasn't magic."
