A question about Aveline

I've done her Act 3 quest only to discover she is now locked out. I don't recall ever hearing anything about losing Aveline in act 3 and I'm curious on as to why this happened. Any help would be welcome.

Guessing your sibling is dead? If so, you can get Aveline back by doing Best Served Cold.

Oh, interesting. :) I'd heard the game defaulting to a friend after sibling and LI (if both are unavailable), but didn't know the game would behave like that.

Well, Carver was dead, and Fenris was still in my party so maybe it defaulted to the next one?

Hah, I didn't know the game did this, either. I'm now half tempted to try to put together a "worst play through ever" where I lock out as many characters as possible...

Kill the sib, don't recruit Fenris, (and Merrill?) back in Act I, lose Isabela in Act II, and don't recruit Sebastian? That would leave you only Varric, Aveline, and Anders.

Gods, I wonder if the game would croak. :)

I think you have to recruit Merrill, don't you?

You can then kill Anders. I still haven't figured out how to get rid of Varric or Aveline, though...

Pris unintentionally managed to whittle her party down to 3 (Varric, Aveline, and Merrill), but I'm still trying to figure out how to kill the three of them. ^_^ It would be so freaking awesome to have like...everyone dead or gone. I really, really want to try it...

I don't know! I was wondering what would happen if, once you get back to the Alienage, if when she asks you "You'll come visit me, won't you?" If you say "Oh hellz no", what happens. I haven't tried it yet.

Is there some other way to kill Anders other than the End Game? I figured you had to recruit Anders, so if you have to take both the mages, you'll always have at least 4 characters at 'Best Served Cold', meaning they'll probably kidnap whoever isn't in your party. That'd be an ideal way for the designers to require someone be kidnappable.

(Unless Gamlen is the default. AHAHAHAHAHAHA.)
