Electricity

We've been motivated by a few things lately to try and drive down the cost of our electric bill. Most notably, the cost of our last bill was just stupid ($220). if either of you has any type of learning disability like dyslexia or ADD, etc. the fluorescent lights may cause problems. They are known to aggravate issues. I cannot stand them. It is one of the reasons that these days in a good teachers classroom you will often see lamps around the room and the overheads turned off. The kids just behave better. Good luck.

Interesting...I was unaware of the effects. I tend to get distracted easily, but I'm not sure that equates to ADD. Tasha actually felt it helped her study better, as the light was a better color (not that yellowish color).

cool if that does work out for the better. Everyone is different. Sarah uses some special lightbulbs (or did) that are supposed to be helpful for people with disorders and loves them. I hate them (sorry Sarah) and really notice them when I am at her house. The important thing is that they work for her.

full spectrum bulbs. helpful for people who suffer from seasonal depression due to lack of sunlight.

no need to apologize, I just need to remember to shut those off and turn on the other lights when you're here :)

also, computers at night. Computers suck power, no point in leaving them on if they aren't doing anything. (our mail server stays on, but others go off when not in use.)

We only have one desktop machine, and I keep forgetting to turn that off at night. The rest are laptops that sometimes stay on, but again something we tend to forget about.

I kept forgetting to turn my laptop off so i plugged it into a switched outlet. When I turn off the lights at night before going to bed, I turn off the switched outlet too and turn off the laptop

It's been monthes since the electric bill has been less than 300. The highest one, the last one, was just a nudge over 400.

I put the leaking water main on the top of the list to get fixed. It's done, only have about 4 years of leaking. :) Twas fun digging a hole int he yard, really. I have another hole that I want to dig if you want to find out just how much fun it is.
