Of the 5 online video rental places I've used, Netflix is the only one that tells you their formula for shipping disks. Both Blockbuster and Netflix claim Houston is their nearest distribution center, but the Netflix mailers mail to a receiving center in Austin and are almost always processed the next day. I was getting 2-4+ day delivery from Blockbuster. It takes 3+ days from some single-distribution companies based in California. Blockbuster was marginally better or maybe even with them and that couldn't all have been mail delays in US Postal.

I'm not saying I'm happy that Netflix is throttling my throughput to make sure they can make at least break-even or not lose too much money on a high-volume user like myself. But they've been the most honest about it.
