SPN and SGA and DANIEL JACKSON!

Sep 27, 2008 17:55

I found a debate watch group to watch with last night. Yaay social interaction! With pretty Obama-voting boys. Also? I want that man to be president SO BADLY. Mental agility, clear intelligence, superb verbal skills, critical thinking, generosity and respect combined with firm and well-articulated differences of opinion grounded in fact! It's ( Read more... )

Daniel is all, "I could have, yes," I only just now realised that Daniel is throwing Rodney's word back in his face, when he made Daniel fall through the wall.
I'm imagining a string of Rodney/Daniel one night stands, because Daniel knows it won't go anywhere and it's not tied up in so much emotional baggage (and Rodney likes getting laid).

Yes! And these encounters involve truly whithering amounts of snark. And Pining!John going "but why not meeeeee?" in the background.

(And GOOD CALL on the wording echo. I hadn't realized!)

the echoed wording happened a couple of times between them, which was lovely. I just love Daniel at his patronizing, antagonistic and arrogant best.

will have to look-n-pause for padding...it's hard to tell with him sometimes because this was filmed awfully close to his shirtless scenes in Burn Notice and while he was not 24-buff there, he was still awfully white Canadian boy pretty in it!

It certainly wasn't bad! Just made me go, "I thought that bit was flatter than that?" but there's always the weird posture/bad angle possibility. Also, I haven't seen the Burn Notice bits...

Daniel at his patronizing, antagonistic and arrogant best

And when you put it that way, *of course* he's fantastic with Rodney!

Civilian base pay would probably be better (assuming they're carried at the appropriate GS levels -- it's debatable as to what GS levels the SGC would carry on paper, since it would be very odd for such a concentration of high-GS employees in one spot, but I'm pretty sure that anyone who goes through the Gate gets at least an extra GS level just, you know, out of hazard and responsibility), but military total pay, with all the adjustments, might be higher, depending on the rank in question. (And the SGC is unusually officer-heavy, but don't get me started on that.)

I speculated a while back, and people who have more experience than I do contributed in comments :)

Thanks for that link. And, uh, way to have a lot of time on your hands? Wow.

ALL military-influenced science fiction TV is unusually officer heavy. Always. Ever since Star Trek decided that the lowest-rank in the fleet was ensign (As for TOS, isn't yeoman generally a petty officer?). O'Brien is essentially the only NCO in the entire universe. No, really. Name another one. I dare you!

SG1 is actually better than most, though SGA then went back the other direction. (The new BSG gets a nod for this too) But... yes. Apparently once aliens get involved, all humans become officers. *sigh*

NCIS, on the other hand, is way more balanced -- Gibbs, for instance, was a Gunnery Sergeant (and to this day refuses to allow anyone to call him 'sir' -- "don't call me 'sir', I work for a living". *g*)

I was always amused that Star Trek only has like six ranks! Military: ur doin it rong.

Yes, but see, NCIS doesn't have aliens. It's the ALIENS who turn everybody into identically ranked officers! *nodnod*

SOON, I hope. Because I do not write snark well, or I would do it myself.
