Should have gone to bed but stayed up watching Cloverfield instead (yes, I AM the last person in the world to see it, why do you ask?). And then catching up on all the explanations and theories, even though really I just liked the monster and the destruction. :D [/fourteen-year-old boy ( Read more... )

But Cloverfield IS just monster and destruction. ): Did you watch it on DVD? Did you enjoy it?

...WE CAN SAY IT WAS A DVD.

I loved it for exactly that reason! =D (I like the theories too, and the explanations of things I was particularly thick about - I totally didn't get the parasites, for example, which I have realised is an absolutely brilliant idea.) Main characters were dumb as shit and I'm totally not going to think too hard about how apparently getting impaled isn't remotely problematic because OMFG MONSTER. SO AWESOME. I love disaster-type movies anyway, even when they are utterly stupid (see: The Day After Tomorrow. outrunning the climate whut?), and this was much less stupid than that, and... yes. I enjoyed it. Looooved (what I could make out of) the monster design, and how they managed to show it without giving it away. And I want one. Even though it would eat me.

Haha, I was just curious how it looks/feels on such a small screen. I want to see it again, but it was such an AWESOME sensory experience at the cinema I'm a bit reluctant to see it all tiny. Most of the enjoyment came from feeling it all around me. Best WHOA WHAT THE HELL LOUD NOISES AND EXPLOSIONS movie since Transformers, totally.

The only thing that pissed me off about the characters was that they actually found the girl they were looking for, and she was alive and (pretty much) well after her building had all but collapsed AROUND her. But the monster + parasites were really great, and I loved being left in the dark about it. It was pretty cute in a Just Woke Up Really Confused Oh God Why Are You Shooting At Me kind of way.

I thought it suited it pretty well, actually -- felt very authentic, I guess, since I'm used to seeing shaky video on my computer. Really really wish I'd seen it in the theatre though... when I went with a bunch of friends the stupid theatre STARTED PLAYING IT HALF AN HOUR EARLY (we came in at the rats bit), they couldn't rewind it and we couldn't see it later because of our schedules and it was just really infuriating. >( And I almost saw it again a few weeks later but then decided against it because I was upset to the point of feeling ill so it probably would have been a bad idea. SO LAME. It sounds like it was amazing though.

...I really wish they'd killed her off there. It would have been really awesome, because you KNEW she'd wake up. But yeah, monster was wonderfully done, and that is the best description of it ever.
