Should have gone to bed but stayed up watching Cloverfield instead (yes, I AM the last person in the world to see it, why do you ask?). And then catching up on all the explanations and theories, even though really I just liked the monster and the destruction. :D [/fourteen-year-old boy

I loved it for exactly that reason! =D (I like the theories too, and the explanations of things I was particularly thick about - I totally didn't get the parasites, for example, which I have realised is an absolutely brilliant idea.) Main characters were dumb as shit and I'm totally not going to think too hard about how apparently getting impaled isn't remotely problematic because OMFG MONSTER. SO AWESOME. I love disaster-type movies anyway, even when they are utterly stupid (see: The Day After Tomorrow. outrunning the climate whut?), and this was much less stupid than that, and... yes. I enjoyed it. Looooved (what I could make out of) the monster design, and how they managed to show it without giving it away. And I want one. Even though it would eat me.

The only thing that pissed me off about the characters was that they actually found the girl they were looking for, and she was alive and (pretty much) well after her building had all but collapsed AROUND her. But the monster + parasites were really great, and I loved being left in the dark about it. It was pretty cute in a Just Woke Up Really Confused Oh God Why Are You Shooting At Me kind of way.

...I really wish they'd killed her off there. It would have been really awesome, because you KNEW she'd wake up. But yeah, monster was wonderfully done, and that is the best description of it ever.
