Shadow is really, really sick.

Any of you who have had a shoot with me at home over the years will have met my dear cat, Shadow. She’s a highly independent, demanding & much loved, nine year old [tomorrow] Russian Blue. She’s a cat who still chases a ball, & carries them around the house in her mouth, & who attacks shoe laces if she doesn’t want you to leave. She hides behind ( Read more... )

You know this from AIM & the other reply from today, but she's doing a lot better today.
She's perked up a bit more since 5pm & has proven that she wasn't not wanting to eat the last two days... she just wasn't wanting to eat that food. So she's starting to act herself again. She even managed to purr today. ^.^

Thank you so very much babe. I think the many positive thoughts she was getting from all over the world added up & helped her.

She was hungry on Saturday night when I got her to her bowl & across 3 or 4 attempts, managed to eat most of a serve of Roo mince. Sunday she had us scared again by refusing to eat or drink.

Today before work I got her to drink a little bit, by showing her it was shower water. Cats. Seriously. [headdesk]. She got massive cuddles before I left for work & she even managed to purr for me. Which is the first noise that wasn't a 'help me' whiney meow since Saturday morning. ^.^

When I got home just before 5pm today, she was on our bed. She saw me & rolled onto her back, tucked up her paws & meowed for tummy scratches. Which is a rare nicety - she is normally too proud to admit she loves them.

Aww sweetheart *huggles to death* I hope Shadow is ok! Phoenix had something like that when I was pregnant except she seized in front of me and we rushed her to the emergency vet. She recovered pretty quickly and is perfectly fine now. I hope that's what happens with Shadow, I know how much she means to you. *huggles you more* You can call me if you need to, 1-219-865-8691 or my cell is 1-219-218-2392 and tell me to get on skype or AIM or whatever <3

[cuddles]

Shadow had a seizure in front of me when she was 6 or 7 months old & got rushed to ER... but that was outside & her vet's response to the ER's lack of ideas was that it was probably something in the soil outside & if it was at all possible, just make her an inside-only cat. Which we did & I've not seen firsthand, or noticed signs of, another seizure since.

She's making a fairly steady recovery thankfully. We're not out of hot water yet, but the fear isn't quite as tangible in the air & there's a lot more hope. Gods, I can't even imagine what I would do if I lost her. She's the only thing keeping me in this country. I think Pete's even starting to consider waiting too ( ... )

I'm SO glad to hear she's recovering! My vet told me back then that dogs often had seizures (probably because they're always eating crap) but cats rarely do and it's hard to determine why in many cases. We still have no idea why Phoenix did and she hasn't had another episode.

Silly stubborn cats, having to have specific water from the shower and different food. The things we do for our beloved furballs! Phoenix is on my lap and wishes Shadow well ♥

It's good to hear she's doing better (per the comment replies).

What a great workplace/co-workers you have!

I'm sending continued good vibes to Ms Shadow and you.
