I just finished watching the new Dr. Who episode.
WOW.
The show truly has gone above and beyond it's former days. Serious kudos to the writers, effects people, and of course the GLORIOUS actors. I love what they did with the theme music.

While I knew there would have to be a rewind of the year, the only thing that saved it from being completely cheesy is that the people on the ship remembered it. It wasn't a memory wipe, which would've annoyed me immensely.
I didn't buy the Doctor weeping over the Master either. The Master has "died" too many times before and then popped back up. But mostly it didn't feel... real. I think that, yes, the Doctor and the Master were good friends at one time, but I think the Doctor realizes that he lost that friend long ago.
But like you said, maybe losing the only other one of your kind adds a different kind of perspective.

I need to go back and rewatch the ep. I did like the fact that it was the power of a single word that ended up being the Master's undoing. But really, more hot!Ten, less Dobby!Ten. Not that I'm shallow or anything.

Yeah, it seemed to be very forced for me as well. When I was chatting with a friend of mine he was suggesting that perhaps they were brothers. It's feasible, since it has never been said nor denied..
Also - I agree it was good that the people on the ship remembered what happened. Otherwise - I might have a problem with that as well.
My friend AJ and I are so itching for a Who convention....
You know, after that episode - I just wanted to call a safeword too. :-P
