Think of a happy little thought...

Nov 29, 2011 14:28

Who: Stannis Baratheon, his Defence Against Dark Creatures class, any anyone else who feels like dropping by.
Where: The usual classroom. Where it is, I do not know
When: Tuesday, November 29th
What: Expecto Patronum!
Rating: I'm guessing no higher than PG/PG-13.

Any merry little thought )

[This is one of the days Kaito is taking his lessons seriously. So there is no book propped open and he's not scribbling notes and doodles today. Today he's actually focused on the lesson because he is one of those with some dark memories and he's caught on that poker face won't save him this time.]

[Like a good little student, Kaito has his wand out and is currently conjuring up the happiest memory he can muster.]

[ His professor is carefully observing the boy. ]

Remember, in order to cast the spell, think that your one memory is the only thing that matters.

[ Otoya was trying his best not to yawn too much as he concentrated on the professor's lesson. The overall state of the castle was making him tired, and he's losing sleep because of the Dementors and their effects. Still, he tries his best, listening to every word.

As Stannis said "Let us begin", Otoya readied his wand, thinking of his most happiest memory. Of course, it was their stellar debut as ST☆RISH that was his best moment in his life, and he focuses on the exhilaration, the euphoria of the moment the crowd went wild when they did the encore. Then, he pointed at an empty space in front of him, and chanted the spell. ]

Expecto Patronum!

[ Silver tendrils snaked out from the tip of his wand, and slowly, a canine-like form shaped itself in the empty space in front of him. It wasn't solid enough to form a real animal, but there were results, and Otoya grinned widely. ]

Yatta!

[ Truth be told, the boy seemed like the sort that would have the spell come easier for him. Unlike some of the others in the class, he seemed to be keeping his spirits up.

However, that was only half of the spell, if that. ]

Five points for Gryffindor.

[ And a stiff nod of approval. ]

However, I am certain that you can do better, if this was only your first attempt. Again, and concentrate harder on your memory.

Thanks, professor.

[ Praise from a professor and points for his house spurred Otoya on, and he strove to work harder, to at least form a corporeal form of his patronus like the professor.

He closed his eyes, concentrating harder on the memory. His teammates' joy, Haruka's delighted laugh, Tokiya's smile of approval...

With a focus he never thought he had outside of music and soccer, he chanted the spell again, standing his ground. ]

Expecto Patronum!

[ There were more silver tendrils this time round, curling into a more visible canine shape as a golden retriever (silver retriever, Otoya would joke later on) formed on front of him. It was still ghost-like, blurry around the edges, but it had a more visible form than previously. ]

Aaah, that's cute...

[ And the boy gets a nod of approval. Which, coming from a man such as Stannis Baratheon, was quite an accomplishment. ]

An additional ten points to Gryffindor.

[ a pause. ]

Would you be capable of assisting your classmates, boy?

[Tavros gasped in delight at seeing his teacher's silvery stag patronus, and is trying his hardest to create his own. He's skipping from one memory to the next, searching for one in which he felt a powerful happiness. Rapping with Gamzee? Being given robot legs to replace his useless, paralysed ones? Playing games with Aradia, snuggling with Tinkerbull after exchanging gifts on twelfth perigee's eve? Being reunited with Aradia after she revived? What the heck is his happiest memory, anyway?

Nothing he tries seems to work. He gets more and more frustrated with each failure. Why can't he do this??]

Expecto Patronum! Expecto Patronum! Expecto Patronum! Expecto PatronumExpecto PatronumExpecto PatronumExpectoPatronumExpectoPatronumExpectoPatronum!

[And so on. He really wanted to be good at this class!]

[ Of course it was a student from his own House who could not master the spell (and was he also the same species as that other strange... girl?). He clenches his jaw, before speaking. ]

Words are wind. You are not concentrating hard enough, boy. Do you have one memory.

[ They were almost as useless as his bannermen. ]

I'm trying!

[He belatedly realizes how rude that was, and his eyes widen.]

Uhhhhhh... professor.

Then try harder. Clearly your technique is not effective.

[ a brief pause. ]

Assuming of course that you have a technique.
