Thestrals and Patronus and Pikachu, oh my!

What: Talking about Thestrals, the Patronus Charm and probably petting Pikachu.
Rating: NC-17. No, I'm kidding. Probably nothing more than PG?

Since the Hogsmeade trip, Red would often try to picture the invisible beasts of burden in his spare time. Various kinds of wings and equine forms came to mind from Minato's first comments on them, though the promised sketch had certainly been anticipated. Akin to his pokedex days of "see first, read the entry later", the book was left waiting in his lap when he received it, the chance for a visual at last all the more enticing

Shoving his hands in his pockets while Red examined the drawings, Minato mostly watched Pikachu's explorations. It still fascinated him to find that there apparently was a world in which Pokemon were real, after all, and even if he was reserved enough not to give into the temptation to pick up and pet the electric rodent, he still couldn't help just watching the little guy at every opportunity. In time, of course, he would probably grow used to there being a real live Pikachu, but for now, Pika was still an adorable, enthralling novelty. Thus, when Pikachu had finally settled, Minato slowly reached out, first holding his hand out in case Pikachu showed signs of not wanting to be touched before gently petting him.

But as Red mused, Minato looked over at him again, shrugging. The faint smile slid off into a blank look, as he looked back at Pikachu. "Yeah. It probably is. ... though death isn't always a bad thing to undergo."
