Its a neat concept, putting the 9th Doctor and Master together; he was a different person, and it always saddens me to think that eight (who was very gentle) had to die to allow him to become the harder nine. And there's no reason to think the Master might not have been around with the Doctor prior to the end of the War. Anyhow, very lyrical and elegant.

I know! In a lot of ways, 8th was really the least suited of anyone to face the War. The bit that I keep thinking of is in the movie, when he has to get past a policeman and is so immensely gentle that he can't hold the man up after he steals his gun--he has to point it at himself instead. And then you turn to 9th, and... ouch.

Thanks for reading!

This is great. Very dense and evocative language. And you know what this reminded me of? Scream of the Shalka, the animation with the alternate Ninth Doctor and the android Master. This is like what might happen if the Time War happened to the Shalka Doctor and Master.

Yes! Shalka Master was pretty awesome. (And one must love a TARDIS with a zeppelin hangar.) I hadn't thought of this in that context, but now that you bring it up, it does make some sense.... •quirks head•

Thanks for reading!

Such a wonderfully dense fic! I love your characterization and the situation and just...everything.

(Should you happen to want a beta for more delicious slash, I would be more than willing to offer my services.)

Haha, thank you much! (Though the fact that I basically never write slash is essentially why x_los challenged me to write some. But I appreciate the offer!)

That really is exceptionally brilliant! Very unique, and the characterisation of the three of them is completely believable. Loved it!

There's a TAG for me having made you do it now? Sweet christ. What did I own YOU again upon completion? I utterly for- SHIT NO I DON'T. Don't I have to write torture? Eugh! EUGH! Godammit!

Because it's you, it is character driven and lovely. The

In their time together the Master has seen him use: a gun, a knife, grenades, a noose, a stone. He enjoyed none of the deaths, but neither did he cry.

I love this sentence, but am unsure whether I like the uncertain pronoun use here, because while I could see it being true of D quite naturally I dunno about M?

The TARDIS, covetous and cruel, reaches up to surround them, weird energies moving in her wires.

Fantastic. And I mean that without the little wince I developed remembering who says 'fantastic' in this scenario.

The verb 'crucifies' is exquisitely well employed in the earlier paragraph.

The Doctor's mind is a still blade, edged and absolute. It is ready to cut him open. The Master is ready to let it. He stands. This stands as a great summation fo the entire dynamic you ( ... )
