This is such an intensely beautiful story. This may sound odd, but I am so taken with the structure that you used to tell this AU, taking important moments from HP canon and giving us your AU take on them. I loved how you titled them with the seven D-words from Gaiman's book, I loved those short philosophical and wonderfully phrased paragraphs that you end them with. Especially in the first scenes, I was so impressed with how you kept Draco, Harry and Ron quite close too canon, sniping at each other, even insulting each other, but never turning into the unforgiving enemies that they became in canon. You really showed that for all the differences between them, they could have got along if things had been just a little different. The barbs and insults felt very much like 11 year-olds would speak. :)
Your characterisation of Draco as a tactile person, the opposite of Harry, is gorgeous. I especially love this line - And sometimes Draco circles Crabbe and Goyle's necks, one on each arm as he whispers devious plans on how to make

I'm really happy you find them close to canon! My head-canon characterization for HP has always been pre-OotP based so it was fun doing a Hogwarts fic. Sadly, the changes in the tenses were unintentional, and caused many a head-desking moment for my betas.
