This is exactly why I pushed myself to learn Middle Egyptian and even though I am having a hard time of it, am trying to get my head around Chinese Script. I am even thankful I learnt French at school even though, as a dyslexic, I had a hard time of it.

It makes one think in a very different way and get out of our one language mindset. It's too easy for us with everyone else speaking English.

Chinese is wonderful! I've been struggling with it for years as I cannot find the right teacher, but it's a wonderful thing. Right now, I'm applying all my skills to Demotic though. It's just as hard, slightly less useful, but totally necessary for an Egyptologist, plus I made a promise to revive Demotic studies in Prague. Yeah, I'm teaching introduction to Demotic next semester, even though I still do not believe it myself :o))))
