Jee, your levels of delusional get more astounding in every chapter. Give in. (Or at least get some relief somehow, this will get physically painful if he keeps it up in the next chapter.)

Yay tension! They are going to be so very yummy together. They already are, but that delusional is still in the way.

Have I mentioned how awesome it is that Zuko's taking the initiative? He doesn't seem to have much experience and it feels like he's pretty much discovering this whole seduction business as he goes along, but he's definitely doing things on purpose. Purr.

I can see great future conflict and dramatic tension over the old guys' increasingly aggressive attempts to recruit Jee for the tea club. They feel like some kind of semi-criminal gang. With Awful Family being the actual criminal gang, I presume?

At this point, Jee's just trying to convince himself not to see the obvious. He does see what's going on, he just... doesn't want to acknowledge it for his own good. After all, this isthe United States and as you mentioned before, in modern times, there especially, such a thing has the potential to get really ugly really fast. I did a little research on some actual student/teacher relationships in the US and the whole debate around it is quite... fascinating. I figured that in this setting, anyone who has average intelligence and self-preservation instincts would think it over ten times before taking any steps to initiate any intimate contact ( ... )

Yeah, this sort of relationship in RL/modern times is about ten times dicier than in the canon universe for a variety of reasons -ages, cultural mores, the flipped power relations... You need a whole different sort of suspense of disbelief for this kind of story, so it's probably good that you're taking it slow ( ... )

Awwww, so sorry you're feeling down about "People"! I have no doubts whatsoever that it's going to be mind-blowing, but I understand the need for something angst-free. I'm going to a cottage by a lake for a few days today, much like the one I'm throwing the boys in eventually, so maybe (hopefully) I'll come back bearing some gifts which might cheer you up. No Internet tends to work wonders for my writing speed - no shiny distractions around... :)

There will be insight into Zuko's motives and another interlude from his POV pretty soon (at least I hope it's going to be soon, it all depends on how big chapter 5 will grow). He's definitely not okay with himself and this attraction. He does have something which might pass for a romantic history, but he's still very much experimenting and alternating between wanting to give it a go and hating himself for it. Hopefully some of it will show in next chapters.

Yay, an update :D!
...Did the flashback events from "Zuko Alone" just happen in this universe? DAMNIT, AZULON! YOU ARE NOT A MONARCH WITH ABSOLUTE POWER OVER YOUR SUBJECTS IN THIS VERSE, OKAY? I gather Iroh isn't 100% certain that Ozai burned Zuko's face in this universe. He would've raised hell if he knew for sure.
That shirtless scene... Jee, you are so screwed.

So sorry for the late reply, I was off vacationing without Internet access.

Thanks again for the comment! The "Zuko Alone" events did largely happen, though with a few appropriate differences which will be revealed eventually. I imagine running a huge corporation and being a grey eminence to the government can give a man the illusion that he IS an absolute monarch... Or maybe I read too much Mario Puzo ;)

Iroh suspects who's behind Zuko's scar, but he has nothing to go on except his instincts and it's not enough to go against someone like Ozai, so he just tries to make sure the boy is safe and well away from all the family crazy.
