I have to second (third? fourth?) the recs for Home Front by penknife. Pre-series, post-Iraq fic. Author's Summary: "Jack and Kawalsky gen (Jack/Sara), rated PG, ~2000 words. Warning: non-graphic discussion of both torture and rape."

It's very, very good and has totally become part of my personal Jack-backstory canon.
