Is there anything in canon about Jack's family? You know, parents, siblings, that kind of stuff.  Is the "cabin belonged to his grandfather" stuff real or has fanon made that up and it's stuck?

Is Mark Sam's older or younger brother or don't we know for sure? I've always thought he was older but don't have a clue where that comes from!

Ok, so LJ ate my first comment... Here I go again.

We know absolutely nothing about Jack's family or life before he married Sara except that he was born in Chicago, grew up in Minnesota, and he comes from an Irish background. That's all; I had to do the same research for NeverEnding.

The thing about his cabin might be fannon; I can't find any information on an episode where it was mentioned.

And Sam's brother: I think Amanda said that she thought he was her older brother in the commentary for Ascension but besides that, it's also fannon. They never said whether or not he was older that Sam, but considering how estranged he became after their mother's death I always imagined him being 17 or 18 at the time.
