How long did you think that would last, really?

Draco's eyes floated open.

He was in incredible pain, and wet?

He groaned and tried to escape back into unconsciousness.

She stood there for a moment, her brows knit together as she tried to say yes. She wanted to turn to George and tell him that she could handle it and that everything would be alright. But she could barely keep herself steady, the weight of the last few hours all but crushing her as she leaned against the table.

She shook her head, her lip quivering as she held her wand in the air, a quick burst of purple sparks coming from the tip.

"No-" she said, finally raising her eyes to meet George. "The emergency team should be here in any moment-" she said quietly, mostly for Narcissa's benefit.

She moved from the table, her other hand clinging to her bare stomach as she came toward George, his body too close to her not to want to be in his arms.

"I know-" she said, her voice cracking as the tears began to flow. "All those hours- I remember-"

That first step she took was really all the permission he needed to let himself turn his full attention onto her, promptly tugging her against his chest and wrapping his arms firmly around her just as, as predicted, a pair of Healers and Assistants almost immediately Apparated in the middle of the room, taking all of a second to survey the scene before diving in on the two Malfoys in their respective states of hysteria and lethargy ( ... )

Her head ached, her brain holding two parallel memories and it was beginning to shoot a pain right through her temples. But she didn't have to guess which one was real now. She knew- every second, every moment of that day coming back to her like waves crashing furiously against her, knocking her down without giving her a moment to get back up again. She felt like she was drowning.

And worse, knowing that she so stupidly believed what they (he, she had to remember it was Lucius) implanted in her.

She buried her head against his chest, fists balled up against him as she clung to him, wanting to be no where else at that moment than in his arms.

"Can we go home?" she breathed, her voice hoarse between sobs. "I just really want to go home-"

She tried so hard to keep herself steady but she knew she didn't have it in her anymore.

George held her wordlessly, arms wrapped tightly around her as he pulled her weight against him, setting his jaw against the sound and feel of the sobs wracking her body, every hitched breath pulling at his heartstrings. He gently threaded a hand through her soaked and tangled hair, pressing his lips to her temple and mumuring senseless reasurrances.

She certainly didn't need to ask twice. He nodded against the top of her head, tightened his hold on her just that much more, and, without even a thought spared for the Malfoys, Disapparated along with her.
