i have dvds of the whole thing, but i watched dance of the dead online this morning, as a kind of remembrance.

That episode is undervalued, I feel. I mean, it's part of the core storyline, but you don't hear about it much. It's also the one along with the two finale episodes where the parallels with Æon Flux are most obvious, to me.

Have you read the sequel comic by Dean Motter, Shattered Visage? It's a fine little addition to the series, though hardly essential. McGoohan went on record as "not hating it", which is about as much high praise you were liable to get out of the man.
