I'm glad you liked it. I agree with you on Variations of Static, though. I too found the voice jarring and it detracts from my enjoyment of the album considerably. I do like the post-rock elements he slides into his work, though. Reminds me of Sigur Rós (You'd probably get a kick out of their video for Hoppípolla, incidentally). As to Eluvium, the rest of his material is mellow, experimental ambient stuff. That album is the only one so far with straight-forward piano work.
I'll have to hook you up with some Erik Satie in the future, if piano work is your stuff. In the meanwhile, you may enjoy Christian Fennesz's collaboration with Ryuichi Sakomoto, Cendre, and the Coil song Red Queen, with classically-trained musician Tim Lewis (a.k.a. Welsh experimental act Thighpaulsandra) on piano, with ever so slight jazzy influences to them.
I've been meaning to ask: Which Kazuo Ishiguro novel should I go for first? He doesn't really have a "best-known" to his name. Everyone I know seems to recommend The Remains of the Day, and I've seen When We Were Orphans and Never Let Me Go cheap in shops.
Incidentally, looks into the bildungsroman trilogy, Gormenghast, when you have a moment. It sounds like it may interest you.
Hey sexy, my train gets in St Pancreas tomorrow night at half past nine.. Do you know when your gig ends? I can wait in one of the dives they call pubs if it rains ;p
I haven't a clue. If it starts at 7:30, I'd imagine it wouldn't take too long, but there's no telling with these things. I'd imagine not long past 11:00, at worst?

By the way, what's the beer list there? And have you got any DIAMOND WHITE CIDER?

From all I hear, Diamond White is the Cobra of the UK. If Mitts is hitting the Cobra again, I'd say there's reason ton worry about him.
