Monday. Get up at 4:45. Catch a train at 6:30. Arrive in London at 9:02. Get to the Chinese embassy at 9:37. Queue. By the time I'm in front of a counter (11:15), I'm a quarter of an hour past being able to apply for same day service, and will have to pick up my visa the next day. How much was your visa? Because I thought it was pretty cheap. I remember seeing a list and all the prices were ridiculously low when compared to the US citizen costs, as the US charges a lot for their visas, so China said "Oh yeah? Well check THIS out!"

£50 for same day service. £45 for next day. Note that I only went in for a single entry.
