Trying to find a group

Jul 10, 2008 00:35

Greetings!

I will be moving with my family to RAF Croughton at the end of Oct/beginning of November. What I was wondering is if anyone that is stationed at Croughton or lives nearby, knows which local group you are near. I like to find out what group I'll be moving too. Thanks!

YIS,

Colete de Valenciennes

You're a little bit out on a limb over there at Croughton. I have not heard of any other SCA members posted there - but I could be wrong. Your closest Shire would be Flintheath as stated by Guy - they are based mostly around Cambridge and the RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall bases - where many of the members are stationed. Having said that though, Flintheath is one of the fastest growing Shires in Insulae Draconis and are very active with regular fight-practices and A&S nights and they would love to have you around and maybe you can inspire people from your new area too ( ... )

You would be quite welcome in Flintheath (that's where I am). Sadly, as others have stated, you are a ways away from us (probably 1.5-2 hours each way by car). The London group may be a similar distance so you could play with them as well. In Flintheath, we have fight practice on Saturday around noon, A&S nights on Tuesday (those are both in Newmarket currently because that is roughly the centre of our population) and, I believe, A&S nights on Thursday in Willingham.

Feel free to join our shire mailing list. It is a yahoo group called FlintheathShire. We can try to answer questions for you.

I believe you are actually in West Dragoningshire, when we were at Daws Hill, we were WD and I believe you are much closer to the other WD folks.

You are more than welcome to participate with Flintheath, but I believe you will find the WD fighter practices are closer to you, don't know if this is a consideration. However Flintheath FP's might be easier as they are on Sat. not Wed. night. It's probably worth getting on the websites and getting out he maps to see what works best for your shcedule. Please note, the WD site list my husband and I as the Knight's Marshal & A&S Officers, which has not been the case in over a year. We are now in Flintheath and I would be willing to help chat with you privately about what might be best for you.

Cheers,
Jahanara
