Return of the Badfic Community Rant

So I ranted a few days ago about the badfic commuities on FanFiction.net, Torchwood Badfic in particular, and now I'm back. I ran across another story that had been archived there. Now, to be honest, this one wasn't as good as the one that sparked the original rant, but it was still fine. There were some spelling/grammar errors, but it was a cute

It's been my general experience that people like that live and breathe flamewars, and starting one only makes them happier. Why give that kind of satisfaction?

Better to tell the author that *you* liked their story and totally don't agree with where it ended up (since it sounds like s/he knows their stuff is on the badfic comm, and is hurt by that; a supportive word from elsewhere would probably make a big difference to them), while just letting the "badfic" people be happy in their own little corner.

That what I did, telling them that I liked the stories and basically giving them a mini version of the above rant.

The idea of *not* saying something to the C2 owner is just frustrating. It seems like letting them win, sort of saying that it's okay. I should check to see if there's a section in the rules that specifically forbids this and email the site...

Yeah, I know how frustrating it can be. Powers know, I've gotten into my share of online battles thorugh the years, often over very similar things. And just because I'm old, cynical and jaded doesn't mean *you* have to be. ;)
