I run.
Hooves pounding, hearts thumping, tearing through bushes and thickets with branches that grasp and pull at my fur. My breathing is shallow and quick, eyestalks bent for protection, head and shoulders lowered as I barrel through the forest.
I have thirty seconds.
A forehoof tangles in a roof and I tumble tail-over-hoof, landing in the leaves with a force that knocks the breath out of me, but I'm struggling to get up again in seconds, hoofs scrabbling for purchase.
Ten seconds.
I'm nearly there, whipping past the trees and landmarks that have become familiar to me over the last few months. Five seconds and it will be coming into view in just a few strides, three, two--
I burst through the last line of trees and into my scoop, legs trembling with effort. Twisting to look at me, Tobias sits on the couch in his defenseless human morph.
< Am I on time? > I gasp, stalk eyes fixing. < Did I make it? >
