WTF?!!! The wraith can give back life?!!!!! Why didn't Elia give back her father's life?!!!! Maybe she didn't know but it just seems strange all this time wraith can actually give life back! :S TPTB felt Sheppard had to be saved somehow but still..... O.o Would have preferred a sarcophagus, then him jumping back up young. A bit of a lame plot ( Read more... )

I enjoyed the episode. It just helped strengthen the argument that Wraith are not evil, but heck, they have to eat just like we eat meat. Also they give life to their devoted worshippers who are humans. Kind of like having pets I guess. I liked the Wraith before we even saw him, I think the first conversation he had with Sheppard had me sold (I knew it was a Wraith). And once again, no name! You'd think Sheppard would at least ask him since they were on speaking terms.

I liked the ep too I just thought the ability to give life back was a little too convenient but the idea has grown on me since.

I think it's a question of knowing how. Elia wasn't raised by other Wraith. She may not be aware she could have done that for her father. Additionally, I also think it's a matter of having the life to give. This Wraith had recently fed on other humans so I think he was able to - for lack of a better word - "spare" it. Elia was feeding when the grown Wraith in the village was but it wasn't all that often according to those villagers, so I'm guessing she wasn't well-fed enough to give some back to her father.

That life has to come from somewhere and I'm thinking there's a point for Wraith in which they can give it back without killing themselves. I think there's a point of being fed just enough to live and being fed enough to be the strongest and fastest they can be, a sort of superfluous point of being optimally maintained. I think it's that point at which a Wraith can be well-fed enough to spare some.

Yeah I was thinking tha same about Elia. Those are some good points about feeding. You're probably right about them all.

Enh. I dwell on Atlantis quite a bit (prolly more than I should) and the Wraith in particular (definitely more than I should) so I have some ideas. Whether or not I'm right... Well, they make sense to me and that's all that matters.

I still think "reverse feeding" is malarkey tho. I mean, come on, the Wraith are biologically designed to absorb energy that way. Humans aren't. We absorb energy through chemical and bacterial processes fueled by the various foods we eat. I don't see how it's feasible. It's a provcative and fantastic (by that I mean 'fantasy') concept but it's not terribly supportable, especially since we know the Wraith are genetically very different from humans.

That was the best part because I was worried he would get killed! It was so lovely that he was left near his natural habitat. ;)

I was really worried about that too. The retrovirus is lame enough! :S

Viva la Wraith!

It was so lovely that he was left near his natural habitat. ;)

I think it was Athos. I don't know why the Wraith would hang around on that planet as the humans that lived there either left it or were culled. But it looked like Athos. Athos had a river, just not in front of the stargate but the river and its banks reminded me of Athos.

I knew something like this would happen. My friend who has never seen Atlantis said to me "I bet they can give it back." 5 mins later he does.

I have wondered if it's possible but I didn't suspect it in that episode.
