Mess hall night of mission... ((NC17))

Feb 20, 2006 00:47

Rodney took his tray to a quiet corner to eat while working on his PC tablet. He'd only just woken up about half an hour ago. Just enough time to go to his private room, shower, change into some civvies (one of his favorites--long sleeved grey shirt, a short sleeved green t-shirt and well-worn jeans) and head to the mess hall for dinner.

Carson enters the mess hall with his own dinner tray and spies the person he'd hoped to see. He frowned to see him looking freshly showered, sloopy/comfortablly dressed, and thoroughly satsified. The meal tray thumps down on the table in front of Rodney mere seconds before Carson sits down after it. He calmly takes a sip of tea.

"Rodney. You're looking well. I've some news to share with you, it's not been a good day. you are aware today was the day Rachel was supposed to go off-wrold, right? Well, it went about as well as one of your missions usually do."

Rodney looks up from his tablet, startled at Carson's unusually abrupt arrival. "Carson. Wha--" He's stopped when Carson casually explains what happened today. Rodney's eyes widen and his mouth moves soundlessly for a few seconds.

"I...uh...no. No, I wasn't aware. She...wait, you mean Radek let her leave the city?!" He pales when Carson mentions how her mission went. "Oh no. Is she okay? Is Radek? What happened? How the hell did I miss this and why didn't anyone tell me?!"

Carson is tired of Rodney's inconsideration of others. He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms. It'a good thing no other tables are nearby. Regardless, he keeps his voice even and low. Amazingly, his accent doesn't thicken. Instead, it's the calm voice Carson uses when expaining something awful and clinical in his line of work.

"It wasn't a matter of let, Rodney. She's a department head and had a routine off-world mission, like we all do. She picked a couple scientists, John gave her a couple Marines, and they walked unknowingly into a sex slavery ring. One scientist escaped, one killed herself when they gangraped her, and they shot the two Marines. I've got Dr. Lopez sedated, and John and Radek had to got rescue Rachel from being tied to a couple posts. They flogged her and were going to sell her to the highest bidder. She's home with Radek right now, and neither one of them are to be bothered for any damn reason at all for the next 3 days. By *anyone*. And you likely missed all this because you decided to blow ( ... )

Rodney closes his eyes and winces at each point, actually cringing when Carson got to the end. How the hell did he find out about Chuck and the kid? And, you know, really, he only fucked Chuck and eight years wasn't all that much...and he must have said that aloud, if the thunderous look on Carson's face was anything to go by.

"Uh...tonight's not looking good for me, is it?" He looks only vaguely worried. Carson--or any of his lovers--would never seriously hurt him, but they've all been known to have a slight sadistic streak in them. Not that he, himself, doesn't, but that's different. It isn't directed at him then. Where as with Carson...well...he's glad he wore his baggy jeans. He puts his tablet to hibernate then slowly pushes away from the table.

"Right. Our room?"
