"McKay to MacGregor. Please come to my office. We need to talk about your recent performance. McKay out."

Rachel sat up straight at her desk in surprise. That sounded like the old, perpetually pissed-off Dr. McKay. What the hell? She sighed and locked down her laptop, stepping out through her lab. "My apologies, people, I'm being called into a meeting with Dr. McKay. I'll be back to go over the new systems and take reports in a bit. Tanner, I'll need the last three weeks of power consumption levels from the South pier. Popov, I'll need the stats on the latest chem lab supply usage. See you all in a bit." She left, heading for Rodney's office. Rachel didn't see cold ice-blue eyes glaring a hole in her back as she left.

She had to fend off a report from the fisheries on initial catches from Lien in the hall before finally getting to Rodney's office and coming in. Her last name... Well, this must be business. She shut the door with a thought and took the seat across from his desk. "Dr. McKay. You requested my presence?"

Rodney crossed his arms and leaned back in his seat, scowling at his wife for a moment before speaking. "Why haven't you mentioned the fact that you've been feeling worn down lately? Or that you've been handing off pretty much all your projects except for deskwork? Or the fact that you've been taking naps at your desk? And before you ask, no, I haven't been spying.

"I just got an email from someone who..." Here, he rolled his eyes, "apparently admires me and thinks you're weak and is trying to get me to see the light. But the question remains. Is it true? If it is, you should have told me and Carson. Me so that I could have reassigned you before this and Carson so he could schedule you check-ups with that one doctor earlier."

Rodney leaned forward against his desk, suddenly looking worried. "Rachel. This is your first pregnancy. You need to take it easy. I'm not saying stop work all together, but it's okay to cut back. You should have kept me informed, both as your boss and your husband."

He sighed and sat back again. "Well?"

Rachel was frowning by the time he finished. "Wait a minute. Someone's been emailing you about me, trying to get to you? You don't find that a bit disturbing? Not to mention that they seem to be paying pretty close attention to what I do? Yeah, I work well with my people, but if someone's tracking my projects..."

She sighed. "I've handed off projects because Carson would have a hissyfit if he thought I was lifting or climbing more than I was supposed to, and some things require that. Not to mention, Radek would be the next to have a stroke if I worked with anything that put off enough electricity to actually harm me. That, unfortunately, leaves me little more than working on artifacts and systems that are smaller than a generator.

And no, I haven't been napping at my desk. I put my head down once or twice because I had a headache, which Carson knows about, and I actually told my colleague when they asked if I was ok. Someone's twisting the truth here, and that bothers me."

She leaned forward as well. "I don't need to be ( ... )

Rodney rolled his eyes. "No, I only got the first just before I called you here." His email had chimed while she'd been speaking and he took the moment now to glance over it. Frowning, he showed it to her, plus his first reply. "Female and evidently a recent arrival, from what I can tell. That narrows it down somewhat."

He eyed her for a long moment before speaking. "You'll tell us if it gets worse? If I thought you wouldn't hit me and cut me off, I'd ban you from the labs entirely until you were off maternity leave." Rodney held up his hands. "I said if, not that I would! Jeez. Genius here!"

Rodney stared down at his desk for several minutes, the fingers of his right hand idly tapping out Beethoven's 3rd Symphony on the desk. "You know, a part of me is absolutely flattered that I've got a stalker." At the look she gives him, he rolls his eyes. "Not a large part."

Opening up his email, he typed out a quick reply. "There."
