When I open up my computer how can I tell what kind of RAM I have?

If it has horns it's a boy and if it doesn't then it's a girl.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can pop one of them out and see if there's anything written on a side. If you know what kind of motherboard or name-brand-PC you have, you can google it and there may be a factsheet online that describes what type of RAM is possible for you to use. Failing all this, take one of your chips with you to Fries and ask them to name it for you.

I am not a PC guy ...but on the mac you can go to the System Profiler and it will tell you what kind of RAM. Is there not something like that on the PC end of things?
