RE: Discussion

Hey Banzai!

Can you pull yourself away from your experiments long enough for lunch? I have something really important I want to talk to you about... We can eat in my office, I'll grab something from the mess hall.

Let me know.

Love,
Rae

Shenzi,

Lunch? Okay, I'll be there.

Love,
Rodney

Only minutes after Rae gets their lunch set up, Rodney steps into her office. "Shenzi and food, two of my favorite things!" He grinned and gave her a light kiss on her cheek.

He helped her finish setting up then got his plate and motioned for her to start. "So...what's so important?"

Rae smiled at Rodney as she sat at the little table in the office. She let him finish his first few bites of the salad before taking a deep breath.

"I'm sorry it's taken so long to get a chance to be alone with you. With everything lately and all... Carson helped me come up with a plan. Please hear the whole thing out." She then proceeded to tell him what Carson was willing to do, how much safer they were with the second and soon, the third, ZedPM, and how Atlantis herself had vowed protection. Rae bit her lip nervously. "It's a chance, Rodney, not a guarantee. But we all have to agree, so I'm asking you. Please let us have this chance."

Rae was secretly glad none of her other husbands had empathy. Otherwise, Rodney might have an upset stomach from her nerves alone.

Rodney set his fork down as Rae explained the plan her and Carson had come up with. Nothing of his thoughts showed on his face. Sitting back in his chair, he studied her thoughtfully.

"Are you sure you're ready for this? You've been the one who has been so set against having a kid right now." As her face began to fall, Rodney smiled lopsidedly. "Hey, like Radek's fond of saying: it's your body. If you want a kid, who am I to object? Anything you need, I'll get it."

He reached over then to pull her into his lap. Hugging her, Rodney continued. "That said, you still have three years in your contract, Rachel. The SGC isn't stupid; they'll put two and two together at get four. I'll do what I can to keep them at bay--see? Being in a possition of power does have it's perks!--but I don't know how well that will be. They may insist that you go back to Earth when they find out your pregnant and file some sort of law suit against you for breach of contract. And that's not even considering the charges they could bring Carson up on ( ... )

Rodney questioned her and Rachel froze. Then he reassured her, but... "But Rodney, you *can* object. It may be my body, but it's *our* family. this doesn't affect just me. You'd be a Père for real. And not to a questioning little scientist, but to a baby. Barring wierd Ancient technological accidents, (Gods forbid) it wouldn't be like Míla for several years ( ... )
