Burnout is the alternative, so yeah, compartmentalize and never let it get personal.
Easier said than done, sometimes.

I never really had time for burnout. I've seen it happen too many times to count, though.

I've seen it too, sad. We had an attending actually committed because of his on-duty meltdown.
