I like Santo movies, altho most agree Blue Demon was the better athlete. I was exposed to so much of this as a kid watching the old Houston Wrestling TV show featuring tons of Mexican stars [my 'egm3' tagline actually originates from this] that it was a natural extension to watch their movies as well back in the days when we had bot one Spanish-language channel. You just have to be open to some wacky concepts presented in a straight-face manner. And well, Santo is an icon; the anniversary of his death being like an undeclared National holiday.
Yeah, my reaction to Santo (and other Mexican genre films) was not that they weren't good but that I didn't quite get them. That happens sometimes. And sometimes I go back to movies I watched long ago and my tastes and perceptions have changed enough that it's like watching a new movie.
I kind of thought that 'egm3' was your initials, registered on your third computer.
A cultural tidbit that you might find interesting: at the hotel in Cancun where my oldest nephew and his wife spent their honeymoon, some of the beachfront staff members were costumed as Luchadores (I could recognize specific characters--I specifically recall the Blue Demon) and sporadic staged fights would break out when tecnicos and rudos met.
