THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. started off fairly straight-faced as a spy thriller series, then got all goofy and Camp as the Batman TV show sent pop culture off the deep end for a while. The new unexpected culture idol also had an office in the Men's Bathroom, which I always found dubious at best.

This was not a sign of class, in my opinion. "Let's go in here and talk about your problem, Cunningham... wait, let's wait until this truck driver washes his hand."

Also, Fonzie seemed to have much of his romantic success with high school girls, and this does not seem that admirable (depending on how old he's supposed to be).

Hmmm, it seems possible. I seem to remember Chekov being inspired by the popularity of Davy Jones in the Monkees?

I'd go with the Checkov-Monkee argument, since McCallum could act while Koenig and Jones, well...

Did you know Koenig's character first started off in the Enterprise laundry room? He invented the Chekov sheet.

Yes, I agree. Koenig was picked to resemble Davy Jones, wig and all. If STAR TREK had an Ilya character, in many ways it would be Spock, of course.
