You and me both. I'll buy a whole lot from my pulps. If you're going to read them you have to have a really healthy heap of suspension of disbelief working for you. But I could never buy The Avenger's creasing-of-the-skull-with-a-bullet-just-hard-enough-to-knock-them-out trick.

And I'm pretty sure that Benson investigated the Newtons "off-screen". It's one of those things I just assumed Benson did but we just never were told about it.

It's odd how I can accept four unlikely things but balk at the fifth. So this baby was raised by talking apes and survived to become leader of an African warrior tribe and then a beautiful blonde American girl turned up and he saved her from a tiger...

Wait, a tiger? There aren't any tigers in Africa, now the story is ruined.
