On writing

Sooo....

I think it's about time I started using this blog/shite/thingie whatever to evaluate some of the stuff I see around me and learn while writing.

That's right.

Writing.

I've been trying my hand at fanfiction for quite a while now, almost  a year to be exact. All my efforts have been poured in to one giant Torchwood/Doctor Who crossover miracle ( Read more... )

Just wanted to say that I just discovered this story over on AO3. I'm at chapter 6 now, and really enjoying it. Don't quite know what's going on yet, but enjoying the journey... Ianto and Amy are a great pairing, and what you're doing with Jack is really intriguing. I do like that you're making him more competent than he appeared in MD.

Hey! Whoa! A message through unexpected channels! I'm glad you like the story! It's been one hell of a ride to write, and yeah, I loved having Amy and Ianto play in the same sandbox, so to speak. Because they're both sort of damaged, but while Ianto is much more pragmatic and pessimistic bout it, Amy is really very spontaneous and positive. So, they could learn a lot from one another.

As for Jack. I didn't buy his act in MD for a bit! Come on, he knows his shit, the only way he'd ever get sidelined is if he chose to be.

So, you know, I hope you keep enjoying it as it goes on!

I checked to see if you had an account on LJ for a couple of reasons. First of all, you write well, so I wanted to see if you had anything else written. I recall you said that you were new to AO3, so I thought you might have other stories elsewhere. Also, while there are things I really like about AO3, one problem is that there's no way to get emails when an author updates, like you can on LJ. I figured if you were posting here as well, I could track it.

And speaking of LJ... Have you considered posting to one of the TW forums? You wouldn't need to post the story to LJ, just provide a link to AO3. TW stories are few and far between these days, and good ones are even rarer.

Thanks! I mean, you no doubt know that Mandala is my first story by now, and I have finished both the aforementioned prequel and the prequel to the sequel. The actual sequel has about six chapters now, but it's going rather slow, given that I've cultivated a rather persistent addiction to Merlin at the moment, but it's only a matter of time before I come back to Torchwood (I always seem to end up back at Torchwood one way or another).

Ah, I could post it here. Might be a good idea. As for the TW forums...well...I have some bad experiences with them, especially when it comes to my dislike for Gwen. I'm a little worried that if I start posting them in the regular forums, I'll be setting myself up for flaming.
