It's funny, but I keep saying that BJ is unique as a Tezuka character in that he actually has sex appeal (though probably not intended)! X3 That, and it's always fun seeing a protagonist who doesn't give a crap about what others think and has no qualms with hitting anyone who annoys him - including bratty kids. :P
I don't think that this is funny because it is a matter of fact that Black Jack is sexy (even when Tezuka never intended that) :D
Ah, I see that you also another proud owner of the first three volumes (I assume that because I recall that those chapter where he beats the crap out of that stupid brat was in BJ Volume 2). My BJ Volume 3 arrived about a week ago (maybe I should tell you that I'm from Germany so that you know why the shipping took that long xD) and I have too say that the chapter 'Pinoco Loves You' is the most hilarious thing (in a good way of course) I've ever read so far. I was even laughing hours after I finished it :P
replace 'Pete Steele' with 'Black Jack' in my icon.hakucho_cygnusFebruary 9 2009, 09:02:52 UTC
Yeah...come to think of it, he did actually capsize on the character's sex appeal in how some women fell in love with him despite the scars and creepy aura he gives off. :P
Actually, just volume 2 so far. X3 I loved how he had no qualms with smacking that bratty kid Jun in 'Dirtjacked'. I've found volume one at a low (and relatively cheap) price though, and have asked a friend to get volume 3 for me if she can find it because of the credit crunch. Were they not available in German online bookstores?
Pinoko = love. Not only is she adorable and funny, but even in a situation of grave danger she's one helluva tough cookie (something I wish was more prominent in a number of female characters of fiction, manga or otherwise...)

Other than that, I don't know any other places that will provide the manga free and translated.
As for Phoenix: Nostalgia I only have original Japanese scans of these pages.
